PRESS RELEASES > January 15, 2007 Hannaford Supermarkets Selects New VeriFone MX830 NEW YORK – January 15, 2007 (NRF Booth #2523) – VeriFone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PAY) today announced that the Hannaford Bros. Co. supermarket chain has selected the new consumer-facing VeriFone MX830 as its next generation payment solution. The PCI PED-approved MX830, equipped with touchscreen signature capture capability, will be deployed initially in new and remodeled Hannaford stores in the Northeast and Sweetbay Supermarket stores in Florida. The MX830 is a new member of the MX800 Series, a product family that provides the most effective mix-and-match combination of payment devices in multi-lane retail environments. The MX830 is designed to meet the highest levels of security and shares the architecture, software and peripherals of the industry-leading MX870 multimedia system and provides ultra-crisp on-screen graphics with 320x240 pixels on a ¼-VGA resolution 16-shade gray scale backlit screen. “VeriFone has developed a payment product that meets our needs for the latest in customer-activated capabilities,” said Kevin Carleton, director of retail automation with Hannaford. “The MX830 provides great graphics in a highly durable form that will meet the rigorous requirements at our checkout counters.” A performance-oriented, durable payment device with ultra-crisp graphics, the MX830 is the entry point to the MX800 Series. The multi-lane payment product family leverages sophisticated technology and security features, and offers retailers a broad range of functions from basic debit and credit payment acceptance to advanced capabilities such as electronic signature capture, multimedia branding, contactless payment and smart card acceptance. “The MX830 represents a new benchmark in quality and affordability in a customer-facing payment solution with touch-screen capabilities,” said Jennifer Miles, VeriFone general manager of Integrated Retail Systems. “We are delighted that our expanding multi-lane solutions have won back Hannaford as a VeriFone customer.” A key requirement for Hannaford’s payment solution selection was the ability to integrate the MX830 with the WinEPS Electronic Payments software from MTXEPS, Inc. WinEPS is a payment engine that provides electronic payment options that range from Debit and Credit transactions, to EBT, gift card, and check authorization. “VeriFone has tremendous momentum in the multi-lane market with the MX800 Series,” said MTXEPS President Jon Elwood. “We are looking forward to working with VeriFone and Hannaford in this migration to the next-generation payment platform.” VeriFone touch screen-enabled MX800 Series products utilize the best-quality capacitive technology with chemically hardened glass and feature a non-mechanical stylus with no moving parts to ensure a long-lasting product that will hold up to continued consumer use. All MX800 Series products feature a modular architecture to accommodate future needs, such as field-upgradeable contactless payment modules. Additional Resources: About Hannaford About MTXEPS, Inc.
